Grow Your Potential
There are lots of great things happening at PVAEC, and as the holiday season approaches, we thought it might be a good time to fill you in!

The PVAEC team, along with our friends and colleagues at The Penquis Higher Education Center have decided to hold a pet food drive instead of a gift exchange at our annual staff holiday party. The pet food will be donated to The Eastern Area Agency on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program. The EAAA will deliver the food to local homebound and needy seniors in Piscataquis County for their pets.
We liked this idea so much that we decided to open it up to our friends and neighbors in the community. You can drop off your pet food donations at The Penquis Higher Ed Center (50 Mayo Street in D-F) Monday-Thursday from 8am-5pm or Friday 8am-12pm. We will be collecting donations until Friday, December 17. You can also drop off your pet food donations with our friends at Central Hall Commons.
Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.
You may have heard that in November, we welcomed Academic Instructor, Nathan Knight back to the PVAEC team. Nate immediately dove in and is currently working on creating a Consumer Math course for our High School Diploma students. This curriculum will provide real world financial literacy for our students as each student uses his or her own personal finances to complete the course. This knowledge will be an incredible asset for our students.
Due to a myriad of concerns, including COVID-19 and winter weather, we have decided to postpone our Spring 2022 brochure, as we did last year. We haven’t set a date in stone just yet, but you can expect a Spring 2022 brochure mailing by mid to late March, 2022.
Our academic learning centers will be closed from Thursday, December 23, 2021 until Monday, January 10, 2022. The PVAEC staff decided to extend the break during the first week of January in hopes of avoiding any post-holidays COVID outbreaks among our students. Students will still be expected to complete assignments and instructional staff will be in the office and available to all students during the week of January 3-7.
We hope that you have a safe and joyous holiday season spent with the people you love most. If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns for PVAEC, please reach out anytime. We always appreciate your feedback.
Sincerely,
Your PVAEC Team
Carolyn, Eve, Hilda, Leah & Nate
