PVAEC and TCTC are offering a CDL-B course to prepare you for written and road tests for your CDL-B license. Instruction is based on State Laws, Industry Regulations and Equipment Maintenance required for licensing. State of Maine standards for classroom and driving instruction are adhered to during the course. Students spend a good part of their instructional time operating trucks through a combination of on the range practice and road time. Students that successfully complete the program will possess entry-level skills as required by the trucking industry. There will be a pre-employment drug test, and DOT physical (included with tuition costs). Gaining your CDL-B license opens up many employment opportunities including, bus drivers, lineman utility truck, snow plow truck, and more! For more information, please call 564-6525. New Course Description: Medical transcription is a desired field for most people trying to work at home. Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential. Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, FTP, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee. Classes are once a week for 16 weeks with a completion of 16 weeks to 6 month options. This is a State-Certified program and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, resumes and how to obtain a job are covered in this program. CNAs are caregivers who provide patients assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. They also help patients feel safe and comfortable throughout their hospital stay. These direct caregivers spend most of their time assisting patients and listening to their concerns. The State of Maine approved CNA course includes classroom work, skills labs, and clinical experience. Candidates must present either a high school diploma, or HiSET/GED. Enrollment is limited to 10. The admission process includes enrollment into our Career Readiness Program, a criminal background check, placement testing, and a series of meetings with PVAEC staff. A non-refundable application fee of $50 is required. The cost of the class is $1,150, which includes tuition, textbook, background check, and state exam.
