The Adult Education Path to Learning Success
The first step on your journey is our office. Set up an appointment, or just drop in to discuss and develop your academic plan with our director, Thelma Regan.
Our Adult Learning Center will be the second step for many. Students can develop and improve reading, writing and math skills. This will help earn credit toward an Adult Education diploma. Or, attend our GED Orientation Classes which will prepare you for the GED exams. Our Learning Center meets in Dover, Guilford and Milo. There is no cost to attend the Learning Center if you are pursuing a diploma. (Diploma Requirements)
Earning your diploma is the third step. You may earn your diploma through our Learning Center, or your General Equivalency Diploma by attending our GED classes. Our GED sessions meet in Dover-Foxcroft, Dexter, Guilford and Milo. The GED consists of a five-part exam in the areas of writing, social studies, science, reading and mathematics. The GED is a no-cost program.
Earning your diploma doesn't mean the end! Your diploma provides you with a basic secondary education. In order to progress further, you need to take the fourth step and enter our College Prep For Adults program. This program is designed to help adults preparing to enroll in college. You may take a math course to transition from high school to college math. English classes will bring your writing skills up to college level. Or, you may need a science class as a pre-requisite for your major. Our program can help you with all these items.
Wherever you are on the path to learning success, PVAEC can help you with the next steps of the journey. Call us today at 564-6525 to schedule an appointment, and our team will work with you to help achieve your goals.
